The newest malware for Symbian S60 2nd and older devices can cost the phone's owner some money. This malware, known as Viver, is a trojan that sends messages to premium numbers. Each message sent will cost nearly $7. Many phones have already become infected with Viver by downloading and installing files from popular file sharing sites.

The first malware for Symbian 3.0 devices has come out. FlexiSPY is a smart phone monitoring application that will record all of the user's activity, phone calls and MMS messages, and will send that information to a server where it can be viewed at a later time by the person who installed the software. This is basically another malware application like MobileSpy, but it is made for the Symbian operating system. Secure Mobile Systems is labeling FlexiSPY as malware because a person's rights are completely ignored when this software is unknowingly installed.
