SMOBILE Systems (formerly FB-4, Inc.) today announced that its SMSGuard application has been selected by mobile phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson to be preloaded with the new Sony Ericsson P990 smartphone. The Sony Ericsson P990, publicly announced to the global developer community in October 2005, is based on Symbian OS v9.1 and UIQ 3.0, and SMSGuard is among the first official applications created for the new software platform.
SMSGuard will be a featured Try & Buy application on the Memory Stick that comes prepackaged with the phone. The trial period for SMSGuard is unlimited; however, the usage is limited to only two entries in the blacklist filter. The full version of the application will be available in the Sony Ericsson Application Shop at www.sonyericsson.com/applicationshop and accessed with a link directly from the phone.
SMOBILE VirusGuard is the world’s most downloaded security application and has led the smartphone security market for over two years. SMOBILE will now release SMSGuard for P990 which offers advanced features that successfully block messages from unauthorized senders without interrupting authorized messages. SMSGuard allows the user to create a blacklist of numbers with two pre-defined options to either automatically delete or move an incoming SMS from a blacklisted sender into a spam folder. The application also gives the user the ability to control the alert/dialog that occurs when an SMS message is received.
“We are determined to provide protection for every mobile user, regardless of what platform or operating system they are using. Our latest offering for the P990 proves to the world that we are number one in mobile security, and we will continue to lead the pack in protecting every new smartphone device,” said Mike Patterson, CEO at SMOBILE.
“In today’s day and age when text messaging has become one of the most popular and used forms of communication, it won’t be long until this is taken advantage of to mass-distribute unsolicited text alerts. We want to give the P990 users an option to protect themselves against this. The SMSGuard is a simple and easy-to-use application that helps the smartphone user manage incoming messages by accessing settings, blacklist and spam folders through an intuitive interface,” said Ulf Wretling, Director, Head of Content Planning & Management at Sony Ericsson.
SMOBILE SMS Guard is used for safe, uninterrupted SMS messaging tailored to the user’s preferences.
